Individual and Group Therapy

Services are available for children age birth-12 yr old and can be provided at home, in school, or in a sensory clinic.

Children with sensory processing challenges often need to be seen in a specialized sensory gym with a wide variety of swings and climbing equipment to get your child moving in new ways that will help address their specific goals.

Treatment sessions are always play-based to ensure your child enjoys participating and coming to therapy each visit.

For some children, being seen in their natural environments like school or home, can allow the OT to observe the routines and show the caregiver or teacher how to implement strategies within the daily routines and provide any additional tips.

For Caregivers

Consultation Services can focus on:

  • Assisting caregivers/parents trying to navigate the medical system or IEP process with their child's school.

  • Deciding what environmental modifications might be needed at home or school like finding ways to increase attention and focus or to decrease over stimulation and promote calming.

  • Assisting caregivers to meet daily sensory needs, promote development, and facilitate and optimal level of regulation for successful participation in functional activities.

Parent Training:

I am a soon to be certified instructor of the parenting course Raising Kids With Big Baffling Behaviors. This approach offers trauma-informed, neuroscience-backed support to help you understand the why behind your child’s most challenging behaviors.

Designed with overwhelmed parents in mind, this course guides you in shifting from reacting to connecting—so you can help your child feel safe, understood, and ready to thrive.

For Schools and the Community

Presentations:

I am available to present workshops or in-services to teachers, parents, or other providers.

Popular Topics:

  • Integrating the latest science on co-regulation and polyvagal theory to increase classroom engagement and prevent teacher burnout

  • How teachers can utilize sensory strategies to increase attention and engagement

  • Motor skill development and tips on how to promote age appropriate activities to support these milestones in the classroom

  • Recognizing Red Flags for when a child may need further assessment and how to talk to parents about it.

Developmental Screenings:

I am available to come do school-wide mini-assessments to help schools keep parents informed about their child's motor and sensory development.

What to Expect

  • We start with a 15 min phone call to connect and make sure your needs and my skills are aligned.

  • If it's determined your child might benefit from OT we set up a consultation/assessment.

  • Through this process we can decide if your child needs a home program, services, parent coaching, or referral to a different type of professional.

  • Goals are established and we decide what type and where services will take place.

  • At least once a month we have a caregiver meeting to make sure all needs are being addressed. Parent education is a big part of the process.

  • We periodically reassess, determine if goals are being met, if your child should graduate or if they are ready for more challenging goals. Depending on the needs, on average, children are receiving OT services weekly for 6 months to a year.
